Bandit sun 9/7 blues
« on: September 08, 2008, 08:17:24 AM »
Ran the Bandit boat yesterday on a 2-10pm bluefish trip.

inlet was not pretty going or coming, but the ocean was nice and flat a couple of miles off.

Bluefishing was slower than before the storm, but we still managed to put a catch together.

Had a 1-2 pick and wait until the sun went down and then had 3-5 on at times filled a exacta box before it was done.

Lots of rocks in there stomachs and read all the readings on the bottom. took a while to get them up in the slick...

Nice night out

Capt Jerry. Good job on putting your patrons onto the fish.

I just cleared the inlet (coming in) as you were going out. Had to maneuver between the rentals in the river.  :P

The ride out the inlet was a trip. Had about 8 foot rollers in the inlet, when I was down in the trough, I could not see anything but water all around. Like a roller coaster ride.  cfzdUppppppppppppp and Downnnnnnnnn. Once out of the inlet, as you said, the ocean was flat.

I had to get out for the last day of fluking.  ;D Only made three drifts and got some shorts. Didn't expect to catch anything but I had to do it.  TT^

Jigs or bait?

I'm getting the itch to do some jigging and might have to scratch it this weekend.

skolman we caught them on bait, but other boats were catching with jigs...

the blues usually have rocks in there before and after a big blow or noreaster.

That was some traffic of little boats there joe

thought i seen ya coming in

little pebbles they were throwing them up and had them in thier stomachs when the mates filleted them.

I have heard that about the stones, but didn't know if I should believe it or not.

I heard they swallow stones to weigh themselves down during a storm.

Wow, 8 foot rollers in the inlet. Kinda glad we didnt head out. We stayed in the river and got a whole bunch of nothing. Probably 8-10 shorts, 1 kingfish and that was it.

How was it with all the race traffic? We figured it would be mobbed not to mention the aftermath of the storm.
