Anyone Got the Fluke Itch??
« on: September 13, 2008, 01:13:39 AM »
If you got the itch to go fluking and don't mind a road trip, Delaware and Maryland have an Open Season on Fluke.  Both States require saltwater fishing licenses, for a nominal fee in certain areas.  Delaware had a 19 1/2" minimum length and allows 4 fish per day, Maryland only has a 16 1/2" limit in certain areas with 1 fish limit and 17 1/2" minimum in the Ocean with a 3 fish limit.

I might consider taking a day or 2 and hit the beaches in Delaware once the fishing heats up a little bit.  Checking out some reports and areas now!!  Might be a good experience and change of scenery??

ROAD TRIP    chrz

Sounds like a plan. Maybe if someone has a larger Center Console they trailer, the cost could be shared equally among three or four people.

I still believe fluke know what the size limit is in their state and get to one half inch of that size, stop growing and just bulk up.  >:(

Fluke Fishing in Maryland does not require a license.  If you fish the Ocean City Bay area and Ocean it is a 3 fish limit at 17 1/2.  The Chesapeake Bay area is 1 fish limit at 16 1/2.

as long as it is caught and comes ashore in the proper state, it can be filet'd. After that, I believe you can do with it what you want, whether it be freeze, cook, eat, carry across state lines, or even use for bait in another state

from what I hear a 20" fluke is not considered very big at all in NH/RI

it's just a crappy ride espec pulling a trailer

I went to Mass. last month, fished for fluke. We were pulling in 20-24 inch fish like nobody's business. Captain and mate kept saying, so-so fish! Don't know why they are bigger up there, but they are.  5hrug
And a lot of them too!
