IBSP 9/22
« on: September 22, 2008, 09:38:11 PM »
Hit the park this afternoon on the outgoing tide.  Wind was wicked out of the north and surf was rough.
Tried bait and artificials north of A23.  Had one hit that resulted in my rig being bit off above the fish finder.
Moved down to the inlet.  Nothing happening on the rocks.  Birds and casting nets were busy in the inlet.
Found an open spot in the upper edge of the pocket.  Tried my limited selection of plugs and metals....nothing.  Switched to mullet.   Got 3 blues up to 18in in less then 30 minutes.  Also had 3 other hits that were lost in that time.  Others seemed to be having similar results, with bait being the key.
The 18in was my first ever blue, so I'm pretty excited.  Thanks to everyone here for sharing hints, tips and locations and helping me get my first blues.  TT^

Congrats on your first bluefish!  They put up a good fight!  Lots of fun to reel in, especially in a fierce undertow ;D!  Nice catch and nice report.  Definitely was rough out there, but fun no less!

Good going Chris, I knew if you went out today you would catch.  The pocket is hot right now especially if you work the tides just right and use either mullet or clams.

Good going my friend... t^

That's OK,  I am just glad you caught something worthwhile.

I was over to the beach today and man is it kicking pretty good.  Tried throwing the heaviest stuff I had and the line scope was insane.

I left in 1/2 hour went over to Betty & Nicks grabbed a bottle of head cement and figured I would get a head start on making a few more teasers for after this blow is over.

I hear talk of a hurricane creeping up the coast, well I guess the guys that were asking for a good ol nor'easter will be getting their wish granted.  This should mix things up pretty good.

Happy Catching

Paul
