Gibbs Lures
« on: October 21, 2008, 08:20:44 PM »
FYI...Just wanted to let anyone who owns or uses Gibbs Lures know that their customer service is excellent.  I know they are not the most commonly used plugs for surf fishing, but I have always found their products to be good for the price.

I had 2 Casting Swimmers hardware and hooks rust.  These plugs are fairly new and they have ALWAYS been thoroughly cleaned after every use, including sprayed with WD40 and wiped dry.  So, I wrote Gibbs and asked them about the problem.  I had a reply by the next day, explaining that apparently, the manufacturer of the hardware has changed some of their coatings and metals to meet some very future environmental standards.  This has caused the hardware to not withstand the sand and saltwater as well.  A down point to Gibbs, but unfortunately a very likely thing all manufacturers will have to do soon.  They offered to have me ship the plugs to them and they would replace all of the hardware.

I thanked them and explained that I could easily do that and avoid shipping costs.  I also asked if attaching hooks with split rings would change the action.  He said it wouldn't and told me to give him my shipping info.  A package arrived today with all new hardware and 2 decals.  Pretty cool IMO...I was impressed and although the quality of the product was not great, they made good in the end.  You don't see that too often...after they have your money, they RUN!

Some companies still care about customer satisfaction. This apparently is one of them. Thanks for the info.  t^

I like their Pro Series Needle fish.  It is always good to know that your dealing with a company that stands behind their product and supports their end users.

Pfishgruven, You certainly know a good plug and good company. Gibbs has been around years and has gone through some owners and changes along the way.Alot of the New Jersey Plug Makers have copied and improved on some of the original models.Plug Away.
Good Luck,AJ
