Left Keyport at 5:50pm and headed for the rip. It was a beautiful night
. Stopped by buoy 11A of keansberg to check readings,
nothing,, We arrived at the rip just as the sun was going down. There was quite a few boats and they were trolling and drifting with no luck. We tried some drifting with eels, clams and bunker.
Nothing, So we dropped up anchor and put out 2 eels and 1 clam. We landed a Sand shark and a large Skate on clams. Nobody in the area seemed to be hooking up anything good. I was in contact with WB
who was not doing well and I heard Keith on the vhf 68. After a while we made a move towards the beach with no luck.
So we pulled anchor and went around the hook into the bay. Nothing
, Made another move more into the bay and Nothing
.
Time was around 11:30pm so we head towards home and stopped at the Keansberg hole
,,, then Union beach
.
Got back to Keyport around 12:15am We were disappointed and tired. I had to get up for a 5:52 train to the city
I found out today from a friend that he landed 5 keeper striper's by the Highlands bridge Tuesday night.
So that may work out for you if the rips are not producing.
