Bustin the Bass 10/24
« on: October 24, 2008, 06:11:23 PM »
Got the word that they were in the bay today.  Headed out solo leaving port at 12:45.  Set up along side working birds and two other boats working the same area.  Only had artificials.  First cast with a 6" Pearl storm shad and had a bump thinking this is going to be good.  Next cast fishon... Half way to the boat drag peeling off, a head shake and no fish.  Shad absolutely intact minus an eye. No other marks.  Another cast same situation.  Need to improve the hook set using the TICA.  Third cast a blue steals my shad.  Meanwhile the guy next to me is bailing blues on diamond jigs.  Went through the arsenal of storms.  No more Pearls.  Tried 3 other colors no takers.

Changed over to 4 oz crippled herring.  Now that's the ticket ;)   Got my two fish.  First one 28 1/2" the other 30".   Left them biting and had to run.  1 hr then off to gas up.  AH marina 3 bucks a gallon.  It's about time things are starting to align..

Get out there and get em.  Hopefully, saturdays weather doesn't screw things up.
