With my charter being canceled on the Bandit, i gathered some friends for a fun trip. Headed out around 12. Inlet was very nasty on the bottom of the tide... Had stelly mike up and tommy along.
bite seemed to be a little slower than the am pick for us anyway.
Headed south a couple miles and stopped on marks. Blues.
Followed bird life and stopped on readings and picked at 'em.
We'd hit some fish on each drop; Sea Bass, Blues, Stripers, Blackfish and Weakfish were caught......ALL ON JIGS.
Crippled herring, Krocs and Diamond jigs with the Crips doing the best job on the bass.
About a dozen bass with only 2 keepers. About a dozen blues. 6-8 sea bass with only one keeper. Stellie got a tog but it was 1/8" short and he also got a keeper weakfish (when hooked) but was bitten in half by a blue on the way up.
Stellie caught most of his fish on a "trout rod". Talk about Light Tackle!!!
Poor Uncle Paulie has to hear him brag all the way home about catching the only 2 keeper stripers.
Back in and home in time for 2 half of giants game.
