Welcome Letter & Sponsors: NJOA So Region Dinner
« on: October 17, 2008, 10:05:38 AM »
I hope to see everyone tomorrow evening. To those that cannot attend but will be with us in spirit below I'd like to share the following information:
Ant

Welcome to the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance 1st Annual Southern Region dinner.

Our gathering is more than a celebration of our outdoor heritage; it is also the anniversary of the “Mullica Hill Rally.” Most of you will remember the rally at Mullica Hill as the kickoff of the NJOA campaign to adopt the cause of New Jersey’s sportsmen and sportswomen. It was a watershed event that united anglers, hunters and trappers and captured the attention of Trenton.

Today, the NJOA is much expanded from the one that stood before you at Mullica Hill. We are now a large grassroots coalition of outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen dedicated to the principles of wildlife conservation and the advancement of fishing, hunting and trapping as the foundation of conservation methodology. We are staffed by dedicated volunteers including five officers, five directors, three managers and more than twenty representatives. We have a highly regarded lobbying firm advancing our interests and a 14 member council that includes some of the largest and most respected outdoor organizations in the state and around the country.

Of course, the success of any volunteer organization is truly dependent on the commitment and accomplishments of those that often go unnoticed and so we express our deepest appreciation to each of you. I’d also like thank the people, companies and clubs that have provided the spectacular array of door prizes and auction items for our benefit. Please patronize these sponsors as they have proven their commitment to our common cause.

Finally, on behalf of everyone of the NJOA I’d like to recognize the outstanding efforts of the southern region volunteers in preparing this wonderful event.

So, take this opportunity to join in the camaraderie, enjoy the celebration of our past accomplishments and share in the prospects of a conservation-minded New Jersey.

Good fishing, hunting and trapping to each of you.

Arrived early, got a good table. Food was good, lot's of people there.

Took about 2 1/2 hours to do the door prizes! Many, many prizes, most valued over $25.

A lot of effort was put into putting this event on.

Thanks to all involved in getting this together. Job well done.

If you do it again next year, my group will be there again.  t^

Thanks to everyone that attended.  We most certainly will have another event next year, but I think we may need a bigger hall!

IrishAyes is accurate.  2 1/2 hours to complete all the door prizes and silent auction.  Ninety-nine percent of the door prizes and auction items where collected by two of our southern region reps over the course of the summer and fall.  We auctioned off 16 hunts and fishing trips from upstate New York through New Jersey down to Virginia.

We made sure every child recieved something.  Most got John Deere hats and pumpkins.

Because of your participation, and after all our bills were paid, the Alliance raised over $4,300 on that evening.

Thanks again and we look forward to a bigger event next year.

Tom
