Five rescued from sinking boat in Long Branch
« on: November 03, 2008, 07:51:40 AM »
The U.S. Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan rescued five people who were aboard a boat that began taking on water about a mile off the coast of Long Branch, authorities said.

Around 2:35 p.m. Sunday, the Coast Guard received a call from a crewmember aboard the 36-foot Chiokat, who reported the boat was taking on water.

A Good Samaritan and a rescue boat crew from the Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet arrived to help the crew dewater their boat, which was then towed to shore, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

That is a shame.  What a way to end the season.  At least it sounds like everyone was OK that is the main thing.

All on board were unharmed. That is the important thing.  t^
