Had Bill Stabile, Brian McCutcheon, and Tom Breeland aboard for a bass and bluefish trip today. Some fog early, coupled with a hard SSE wind all morning made for less than favorable conditions.
Ran north and east of the inlet in about 55-65' of water, immediately found some patches of birds working sandeels, and moments after putting the jigs in the water we were into fish. We had a slow but fair pick of fish until roughly 9:30, when it slowed down.
Went up on the troll, picked a few more shorts and bluefish, and then went back over to jigging to pick a few more shorts. All fish were taken in the same general area.
Overall a very tough day with the nasty conditions, but the boys toughed it out and put some semblance of a catch together. Wound up with about a dozen bass to 29", and roughly a half dozen bluefish to 12#. At best it was a slow pick.
3-7 oz. kroc was king today, however a few fish were taken on a 47 w/ a green tail. Pearl shad rigs also put fish in the boat as well as a chartreuse stretch 25.
