fishing log

Who keeps a fishing log and what do you record?

I keep one and log the date and time out and back.  areas fished, fish caught, times of tide, fishermen on board, bait/lures used/productivity, weather/sea conditions wind direction, strength, etc.)

I usually just write the information into a composition book as opposed to having a data base format.

Anyone keep any other info that may be useful?

Capt Bob,
I do keep the temp but never considered barometer or humidity.  I can see how it could help though.
Thanks,

I also keep a record or how much I spend on bait, lures, etc...that way I know how much, but if these buerecrats(sp?) ever wake up and see how much money recreational fishing puts into the economy VS Commercial guys, MAYBE we will have a bigger say in things.

Welcome to the site Devndeb.

Excellent point on the economy side of the equation.
The bureaucrats will see the light eventually.  But that will be when the average guy can't go fishing because of the cost.  It will hurt all businesses not just tackle shops.  The motels, delis, restaurants, etc.

Hi All,

Welcome to the site Devndeb.

What Capt. Bob said ... I start a new lgobook yearly.

I also religiously upload all waypoints from all GPSs into Mapsource and annotate them as well with comments.

Thanks,

Capt. Ed
