Cape May Rips Report 11/27 11/28 11/29
« on: November 30, 2008, 03:33:56 PM »
11/27 Thanksgiving.   Dave W. and his two friends got on board today to do a little Holiday Bass fishing. So we got off the dock at 5:30am to be able to get the trip in and get the guys back home  in time for their Turkey feast. The Bass fishing was slow early in the morning but in the later morning we got on a rip that was holding fish. Most fish were caught on Spot and bucktails and one or two on eels. We caught 11 total and managed to put 2 Bass in the box at 28.5" and one 30"  Sounds like Dave has started a new Thanksgiving tradition.

11/28   The day after the feast. Ryan D. and his group of 5 were at the dock at 6:30 to try their hand at Bass fishing. We got to our first stop and dropped the lines in and were hooked up right away. The group was using eels and my mate Dave and I were working bucktails out either side of the boat. The action was non stop. On several passes we had multiple hook ups. All the Bass were between 24" and 27". The action was too good to leave. You just never know when the next one will be 28". We worked the area until the tide and bite stopped and then we moved on. We got on more action later in a different spot with most being short. We did manage to box 2 Bass in the  box A 29" and 28" fish. Total for the day was 43 Bass.

11/29   Walter S. and his group of 5 came out with us today for the fun. The morning was a bit chilly and everything was frosted over. That must mean its still Striper season. We got a 6:30 start and headed on out to the fishing grounds. When we got set up and dropped the baits in we hooked up right away again today. But on this day the rod had a bigger bend in it. First fish 39", Not a bad way to start the day.  Bigger fish had moved in and there was still some smaller fish mixed in. All Bass were caught on eels and bucktails. After two hours of fishing we got close to the top of the tide and we lost the bite. We moved around stopping in different locations, the action was spotty when the tide turned. When we headed to the barn we had 6 Bass in the box from 28" to 39" and caught 31 total for the day.

thanks guys it has been fun. We have had days where the smaller fish have been abundant and manage to keep a few. Then the bigger fish move in with the small fish and it is every man for them selves. The important thing is we have been catching. My last two trips of the year are coming up this weekend. Looking forward to going out with a BANG.   t^

I'll be putting FISH TALE in dry dock for the winter about the 15th of Dec. for a little snooooz. I still got 2 more trips and I am already looking forward to the spring and fishing the Del. Bay for Bass and Drum.  t^

How has the Bass fishing been up north Jersey? What can I expect? My buddy will be keeping his boat in until the 1st of the year. After mine is out I'll be fishing with him.

Rod, after the boat is out I'll have chance to sit down and get a plan together. I have some questions about doing a new website. THANKS!

Fishing up north has been great so far as I hear on the VHF the boaters are complaining that their arms are tired and they have been going in early.  Tons of shorts with some nice size bass thrown in for good measure.

The Tog fishing has really heated up and the blackfish are filling in the gaps.  You should have fun... slt

Happy Catching

Paul
