well picked up this charter from a friend who had important issues keeping him from doing it.... And i hope and pray everything is well with him and his family
NOW... Got to post the bad with the good......
Took the ride to Cape May to fill a charter with Laura, Mike, mikes bro Jim, Capts friend BIG JEFF, and C&B's Friend Matt who forever will be known as Prostate Pete the Hot Lemonade dripper.....
arrived at 6am with a STIFF wind at the dock blowing 25-30 knts easy.... we all made the decision to go for breakfest as the forcast was for it to blow out before noon.... around 8am we all made the decision to go hit some inshore wrecks, 3-4 miles out, and wait for it to lay down as predicted then head off to the Promised Land......
First stop was at a 4 mile piece in 3-5 ft seas with an occasional 6 ftr and winds crankin to 30 knts... BUT the fish were there as Mike dropped down and hit a 10lber in the head for the first boxer....a few more shorts and keeps were landed by ALL, tide went slack and so did the bite for the rest of the day .... Capt Chaos had us on the wreck at all times as we adjusted to work different areas of it but to no avail.... tried another barge close by for just a pick of shorts..... unfortunatly the big blow out/ die down didnt start to happen till around 230pm and by then it was way to late to run off....
That being said we wound up with 12 keepers and twice as many throwbacks, EVERYONE had fun and agreed we did the right thing by going and taking the chance that the weather would lay down for us which it didnt... No big deal as fishing is fishing.....
Good to fish with this crew again..... had lottsa laughs though we could have used my bow monkey for entertainment purposes..... And Matt please ask the dr about flowmax....
