Avet SX + Lamiglas Rod - Which One??
« on: December 23, 2008, 10:27:24 PM »
Thanks to an early Xmas gift, I am the proud owner of an Avet SX 5.3.
Now the tough part - which rod to pair it with?  ???

I think I've narrowed it down but would like to hear opinions.

Lamiglas TFX7020CT or IC70MH.

The objective it to create a rig to handle the majority of Raritan Bay fishing that I do (from boat) - clamming/chunking/livelining stripers, bucktailing fluke, blues, etc..

Any help is appreciated.
Nick

Not much of a difference between the two rods. The TFX7020CT has a cork grip and I beleive (could be wrong about this though) the IC70MH has a foam grip. Also, the IC70MH is rated slightly higher in line test. (12-25 for the IC and 8-20 for the TFX.)

Either one would be a good choice. I personally prefer the cork grip over the foam.

You might even want to check the TFX7030CT, which is rated for 10-30LB test line. Closer match to the OC70MH is line rating than the 20.
