Winter fishing
« on: December 20, 2008, 08:45:04 AM »
In years past the fishing will continue through out the winter in are area.... The late afternoon can warm up enough to get out and make some cast....

I hear a lot of talk about the bass being over... Its not the bass thats over.... just no one fishing.

Last winter fishing Lavallette....

The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

Absolutely correct, kayak1. No fishermen = no reports. The fish are still there though. Not as many or as frisky, very lethargic, but still there for anyone willing to put in the time.

So true!  Every year on Christmas my father and I would head over to Seaside Park in the afternoon before dinner for a few hours and try out any new Christmas Gifts and put a couple hours in casting.  Sometimes we got lucky with the weather and sometimes were were freezing, but it was always fun!  Always had a couple fish to reel in as well.

I have to agree.  Fishing during the winter is kinds nice as there is no one on the beach to get in your face either.

If you look at some of the B&T's they are already complaining that the fishing is great but there are on anglers taking part in this good fishing window.  And as there are no anglers to give reports there is a false assumption that there are no fish around.

I keep a rod in the Expedition all the time but I take a lot of my other equipment out.  8' rod and a surf bag loaded with metals and teasers is all I really need this time of year.

Hi Dave, I will be out there but not that early.  Its a family thing and I will have to wait till everyone gets tired of their presents and decides to take a nap.  That's when I go out for an hour or so.

Hope you all had a great holiday.... I did get out yesterday for about an hour....
The surf was very dirty.... So I don't think the bass could even see the plug

This weekend the weather is going to be great...lets just hope the wind stays out of the west

Hey All.

I did not get out like I planned to yesterday but I will be going out this afternoon as the water seems to be in pretty good shape a little dirty but if you can hit them on the head you got a chance.  Like they say you got to be in it to win it.

I just picked up my IBSP sticker for next year and already they are up to 518.  It might be a crowded summer if they are up in the 5 hundreds already.

Oh well I know I will be out there once again pounding the sand and surf.

As far as going out I am hearing north of the SSH Pier is doing well anything south are slim pickins today.

Ortley here I come... t^

Well the fish were not cooperating this evening.  Tried low and slooooow but nothing.  That's OK I was trying out some new stuff like a SnowBee XS wading jacket and a new pair of SnowBee waders.  I tell you what this has got to be the most comfortable set of waders I have ever had. This coupled with the jacket the only thing that was cold were my hands.  Well worth the price.
