Florida Snook Fishing: Anyone?

I'm planning a trip down to the Palm Beach area of Florida this spring to visit my wife's relatives.  This year I'd like to do some inshore snook fishing.

Would any of you have some information on this fishery?  Any recommendations for guides or charters? Anybody have friends who fish in that area that may want to share their boat with this Jersey boy?

Any and all information would be helpful.

If you want to go down to Ft Lauderdale, I can recomend Capt Gavet. Tuttle. Nice guy and a first class guide.

When I went with him, I didn't score on a Snook but had some shots.

Basicly, the trip started in the afternoon and we fished for trout and then moved out into the ocean to drift for Tarpon where I jumped a couple. As te sun went down, we made our way back to the ramp casting to docks with overhanging lights for Snook. I could see them bu couldn't get them to bite...

I'm not sure what part of palm beach you will be in but I do have some spots I have fished many times while in West Palm Beach......

The first is a water way located around the South Dixie Hwy.... Arlinton Rd to the North and Maryland Rd to the South...... you can also get there off Federal Hwy.....

This is called the spill way...The water that flows from the fresh water lake above,will be pushing through the dam.... this will cause the water to churn and the bait fish get confused.... throw a Zara spook up into the churning water and hold on tight snook on.....

The second area is south... head to the beach and turn on Ocean Ave, you will be looking for ocean Inlet Park..... This is another great area that can be fished easy from both sides,

The ocean also is  a great place for snook fishing..... stay with all top water plugs.... more fun that way.....

have a great trip....no boat needed..... just a pair of shorts and a light fishing rod with a Zara spook in bone or shade color....

Thanks K1.  I'll be staying in Lake Worth.  On land I have fished Lake Worth and Jupiter piers.  I have also fished the inlet in that area that does have a park on the west side of the road.  Is that Ocean Inlet Park?  I can't remember the name of it, but I remember seeing a sign that said (of all things) Manalapan.

I have done better on the piers, catching ladyfish and small barracuda, than I have from the inlet.  There are many folks that fish for sheepshead off the pilings at the inlet, but I haven't caught one.

After seeing the cost of the guides down there now I may have to stick to land.  That's not saying they don't deserve it.  But, I'm just one guy and it's hard to justify $600 for a one person charter.

If you (or anyone else) has some more info to share I'm all ears!

Manalapan is right on...... I also have stayed at lake worth.... The inlet is at boyton... I have fished that one area about 15 times over the years.....

The spill way is by far the top area for snook...also keep in mind that at the end of march and through April is mullet time..... The snook will be all over the schools..... The spill way also has two piers on both sides.... the mullet up inside get well over 2 pounds its a site to see......

This is the area I would fish every morning just after sun up......Tarpon also go up to the spill way to feed so be sure your spool is full.....

I just love that entire area......

Capt. Tuttle was on World of Saltwater Fishing today.  I caught him on there just before I was leaving for work.  I didn't have a chance to see the whole show, but I recorded it on my DVR.  I'm planning on watching it tomorrow!
