Anyone Kite Fish?
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:23:51 AM »
Has anyone done any type of kite fishing?  I know it is fairly popular in Florida from a boat, but I guess it could be used here in NJ.  I just read something from New Zealand and Australia where they are kite fishing from shore in the surf and bays.  Looks interesting and fun!

I have not tried it, yet.  I love the idea, let the kite do all the work, while I rest!   ;D

WoW!  The initial start up costs for all the equipment NEW is expensive.

I hope to try kite fishing this summer, using someone else's kite and equipment.  Better tie some good knot's, as one lost kite and your outta some Big Bucks, No Whammy Lost In Space!   rofla

Can you please post a link about the Australia and New Zealand article?

I have read all the information I can find on kite fishing in south Florida.  It seems a very popular sport with families in the Ft Liquordale and Mie Ham hee areas, I can tell from the pics, showing all those father's with their young dauther's on board their sport fishing yachts, at least it looks like their daughters to me.  Give's a whole new meaning to "Come Fly A Kite with me."

Here is the link I was reading.

http://www.fishingkites.co.nz/

Not the best site, but some good info.  Yes, very expensive, especially if you buy their kits and have all the bells and whistles.  I was thinking how it might be useful and fun here on the beach with a nice east wind.  Would help get the bait out a good distance.  There is a lot of logistics though that would have to be worked out to do this.  Does look like a fun, different way to fish.

Although, my first option for distance would be to just buy a SurfRocket and get it done in half the time and half the work ;D!

Thanks!  It will take me some time to read all the info on this site.

Hmmm ..."You will catch plenty!!  Whether you intend fishing from shore or boat, wish to troll for gamefish from the shore, bottom fish or simply cast your line out until your fishing reel runs out of line we have the perfect kite system for you."

I'm going to check it all out!   slt
