just so guys know the stripers are biteing in rivers like the hudson and hackensack my buddy goes every day in newark bay hes hes getting bass up to 30 in on worms most go closer to 24 but some real nice ones aswell and mostly after dark

i dont keep anything out of newark bay might start glowing at knight or grow something

I'm C&R anyway it doesn't matter to me.

But I have no problem with those that do keep their catch it is just something I prefer doing.  With that said I would not trust the waters in that area I fished that area a lot when I was younger and have seen it go down hill with the pollution problem.  I would really like to see any research on how that area has changes.

Yeah, didn't even think of that!  It is a shame how polluted they say it is .

 Just like to add here health advisories on striped bass relate to all fish even those caught down here.Fish migrate!! Waters in North Jersey are cleaner today than they were 40 years ago because of tough clean air and water regulations. AS a result there is better fishing in all those river systems today compared to the  60's&70's.

I have to agree but I am still C&R.  My wife will not eat fish unless she knows it is farm raised.

most of them will stay in the river all year round. thanks Bayonne most of the time we start by the zee in april for shorts and in may the big one move up .With the price of blood worms we wait untill May and use cut bait (Bunker)

Agree! The fish up here are the same fish you catch down there and everywhere else. They move. They are just as clean as those in South Jersey.

good to here fish are there so soon march 1 will start on the hudson in jc and work my down till i end up looking up at the bayonne bridge and then work my way up the other side and see what i can find in newark bay
