Rod holder and storage
« on: February 22, 2009, 05:18:12 PM »
I like to always have a rod ready with a different set up and I don't have nearly enough rod storage in my boat. So after doing the boat show the other night I found this design that I liked and started to make my own.

After a few hours of drawing and holding up rods I came up with this.

I know that I will only be able to take the front ones off before I can get to the back but thats ok. I also know that the reels that are next to each other are going to hit each other. I may rig up some felt to hang there or maybe I will go with only 2 rods a row. I also need to remove the shelves to make it all come together.
I use mostly spinning rod and reel setups but they are 7 feet long and I will only be able to use the bottom 2 rows for them .  the top row will get conv. or short jigging rods.
As of now I will use painted plywood and if the design works out I will go with starboard.
Please let me know what you think and give me some ideas if you have any.
