Power washing
« on: March 26, 2009, 02:15:40 PM »
Hey all, I have heard that it is not good to wash your boat with a power washer as it can damage the gel coat. Any one know if this is correct?

Thanks
Bill

That is correct.  But if you use it correctly and not get to close with the nozzle you should be just fine.  The closer you get with the nozzle the stronger the stream, enough so, it can cut into almost anything.

Do it as I do, as soon as you pull out power wash it down and you should have no problem, everything comes right off. Let it dry on and its is a lot harder t^

Funny that you ask. Just yesterday I was using the power washer on some stuff outside, the machine was not running smooth no matter how I ajusted the choke... checked everything ...make a long story short ..returned the machine to SAM's with the original receipt and paper work after 6 months. Sam's C/S was great and I was able to exchange for a new one.Sam's got my vote.
I use the wide spray nozzle on a wet hull and do not get too close.  Good Luck with yours.   t^
