Jason and I were 2 of the 12 fares aboard today. Started off drifting the Keyport flats. At this point the drift was slightly to fast, so we dropped the hook. First flattie came over the rail soon after but it became a waiting game. I decided to throw a bass bait out and was soon rewarded with a chunky 26" very clean striper. Jason boated the next flattie on the boat before both the tide & the little action we had died.
Moved out into the mid bay with the rest of the fleet and scratched out 1 more flounder. Headed back to the Keyport flats and spent the rest of the day drifting. First few drifts did nothing but we then started to pick a few. Jason added 2 more to the bucket. I had my one and only flounder bite towards the end of the day & missed it.
Boat total was 14 flounder (2 of those shorts & another 2 taken by the crew). Although Jason was beat out of the pool, he did claim high hook honors with 3. Clam strips seemed to do better when we were on anchor and worms held a slight edge on the drift.
