Sat morning I left my house at 4:45 am. I arrived at Freds Bait & Tackle at 5:40 am.Kash's wife arrives at 5:55 am.I am the 2nd guy on line.1st guy says I ordered a Bushel.Kash wife says what is your name? The guy gives Kash's wife his name and she checks the list & his name was not listed.She says your not on the list for a reserved Bushel.Therefore you can only purchase a half of Bushel.Now I am next in line Kash's wife asks my name and she checks the list & now my name is not on the list
I said I picked up a Bushel yesterday afternoon at noon and told your husband to reserve a Bushel for Sat pick up at 6am.I said listen I'm a regular customer & I demand a Bushel right now 5 minutes later there was a Bushel in the Trunk of my car
I Arrived at Keyport Marine Basin and Richie & Dom were already on board waiting for me.
I put all my gear on board and Richie took the dock lines off & I pointed Dom in the right direction.Short boat ride & once we got to the spot & the anchor was tight the Bite started within 10 minutes.Richie hooked up first and after that I was hooked up.Now Dom was feeding the Bass and boy was I giving him a piece of my mind
Dom when you feel the hit point the rod down towards the water & let the Bass run.Once you feel the Bass runnning lift the rod up slow.Everytime Dom had a hit he pulled the hook away from the Bass.No matter how many times I told Dom what to do he did the opposite ! Now Richie & myself were bailing them.And Dom was scratching his arse ! Just as the tide died we went through the 1st Bushel & it was only 9:45 am.I said guys the day is young and we are not done because Dom has to catch his first Striper ever.I make a few calls looking for a Bushel of Clams.I called Fred's,Crabby's,Keyport Marine,Julians,Reno and not 1 place that I called had Clams.Now I call Michaels in Great Kills and I ask the guy if he has a Bushel & he says yes.Richie pulls the anchor and off we went to Great Kills.We pull up to the 1st dock and tie up.Richie & myself get off the boat and we start walking up the dock and a woman says where are you going.I replied we are going to Micheals ls to pick up clams.No your not
We now pull up to another dock and now we tell the guy we need gas and once we gas up can we pick up clams at Michaels.The guy says no
We said never mind we don't want Fuel.Now I am ****ed
Richie's cell phone rings and it's Danny.Richie says Danny where are you.Danny says Brooklyn.Richie says Danny please go to Michaels in Great Kills and pick up a Bushel.Danny says where's Michael's.Danny arrives in Staten Island and he could not find Michaels BUT Danny found Great Kills Bait & Tackle.Danny calls us back and says Art the guy is putting a Bushel together for us and it's $90.I said buy them.I said Danny bring hot sauce ! Richie was waiting in the parking lot for Danny.Danny pulls into the parking lot and from a distance I see Richie carrying a Bushel down the dock
We leave KMB and go back to the #'s we were set up in the early am and the Bass were waiting for us.Now Dom is still feeding the Bass and Richie & myself are catching.I yell at Dom 1 more time and he finally hooked up.The smile on Dom's face was priceless.Dom finally figured it out ! Dom started baling them.I now turn to Danny and said Danny your next ! I turn around and Danny was hooked up.There were times when all 4 of us were hooked up.By the time we finshed the 2nd Bushel we must have released 80 Bass 11 being over 28"
We pulled the anchor & Dom took us back to KMB.We pulled into the slip at 6pm.Cleaned up the Boat and by 8 pm I was home.
