Reel Class Flounder 4/18
« on: April 19, 2009, 07:28:19 PM »
Had the George Push charter aboard today consisting of George, Jeremiah, Dave, and Shelly.

Started out about 90 seconds from my slip, set up in a tidal hole and got it going with an OK pick during the outgoing tide. With the outgoing water and the light NNW wind we sat real nice, and picked away in spurts of 2-3 fish every now and then. Once the tide crapped out, so did the bite.

Bounced around a lot thereafter during the slack and start of incoming. Fished as far east as the Fisherman's Cove - caught nothing until we returned to our original drop to finish out the day for the incoming. Wicked wind against tide in there, but we sat ok in the same general area, and Dave picked up a real nice 3.1# flundy on a whole sandworm.

Dave's 1982 spreader bar rig was on fire today! At the end of the day we pieced together a decent catch of 16 fish, most were nice chunky females with a couple of runt males in the mix and one throwback. All but 2 of the females still were loaded with eggs and had empty stomachs. Tomorrow looks good!

Great trip, lots of laughs and ball busting from a bunch of regulars who love to give me a hard time even on 4 hours sleep  rofla
