Friday, May 8, 2009 SEASON OPENER!
With a nice group aboard today, and all with high hopes of some fish (read STRIPERS here) we took off this morning into the fog! Yep. Fog. No chance of seeing birds working over fish, so we went to the north, looking for signs of fish. We made it all the way to the fishing grounds, and the fog lifted almost immediately, leaving us in the sunshine, and on a flat ocean. It was great!
We made a stop by some birds, but they were just chasing each other around, so we went a short distance to the south with the charter boat Miss Michele. We got into some baitfish there, and it was GAME ON for a while, with several bass on at once. That didn't last too long, but it got everyone all fired up.
Unfortunately, the .fish went on a prolonged lunch break, and it was quite a while, with a lot of looking and trying before we took off for better pickings elsewhere.
We went about 6 miles south where the Bounty Hunter charter boat saw some birds, and that was the best move of the day. We got into some nice blues, with several fish on at once for quite a while, and the BASS were there, too.
Lauren Quanoh from Walnutport, PA was into the blues, along with Chandra Emirich, from Easton, PA. There was a lot of huffing and puffing from those two when a slammer slammed their jigs! And slam they did!
Keith Harper was there today from Point Pleasant, big blues and bass for him! He broke off a MONSTER bass, and spent the rest of the time there trying to hook him again!
Phyllis Burton was with us today, the first mother to take advantage of some Mothers Day weekend fishing, and there was some nice bluefish action for her, too.
Contractor Mick was there today from Aston, PA, big blues and BASS for him, too. His buddy Keith Markowitz had them dialed in today, though. He boated 3 BASS today up to 40 inches!! Along with a nice bunch of blues, Keith had a good day!
Dave Gonzales from Easton, PA kept his streak of spring STRIPERS going again today with some nice fish,
And Dwayne Bauder from Bethlehem, PA had a blast with the blues and BASS.
