Tom and I had the Roosters out for our first Fluke trip this season. We left our slip at Atlantic Highlands Marina at 7:00 AM choosing to try close to home to avoid any crowds at the Point of the Hook. There was no wind in the Southeastern corner of Sandy hook Bay we relied on the tide for our drifts. Trying different areas that produced fish last year we stuck it out until slack tide for our first keeper. Sea Robin strips were the bait of choice as Killies are hard to come by so far this year. The total catch of keepers this morning was five; I landed four up to 22" while Tom picked up one at 22½". There were very few throwbacks. The Sea Robins were numerous and the yellow-eyed demons were few. The harbor was loaded with Rainfish but no Bunker. Pete
