Had two 4-hour charters today, with two awesome groups of people on board, and for all of which these trips were their first livelining trips ever.
AM (7AM-11AM): Had the Fred Redmond charter aboard. Ran south. Made bait fairly quickly. Fished the deep - nothing. Came in close in some pods, had 2 immediate runoffs but we went 0-2 on those fish. By 9:45 everything shutoff, so our backup plan w/ this crew was to go seabassin'. So, we ran off to a few snags and had immediate, drop and reel action with mixed size seabass from throwbacks to 2#ers - no real big ones, no doggies. Even diamond jigged a few nice bass. We seabassed for only about an hour, still caught close to 100 fish with ~30 going in the box along with a ling. Lots of fish 11-12" that are still swimming. Dean was on fire! Good trip, wish we had the bass.
PM (3PM-7PM): Had the LeAnn Beebe charter aboard. Ran south again. Had some bunker left over from the AM so we went right to fishing. First drift, nothing. Second drift, immediate runoff, and LeAnn boated her largest bass and largest FISH ever at 40"/25# - fish was as fat as a thanksgiving turkey. Got one more to the boat shortly thereafter.. Thought we had em' going - NOPE! Couldn't get this patch going, so ran further south, then back north, then north of the inlet, only to find miles of bunker with no fish on them. Good afternoon, weather was incredible!
**I had trips scheduled for the next couple of days - however they had to be postponed due a death in the family - wake tomorrow(Sunday)/funeral Monday. Best of luck to all that get out tomorrow, catch some bass for us!
