Raritan Bay 6/1
« on: June 01, 2009, 08:20:57 PM »
out of Sayreville this morning with fishing buddies Dave and John with a 1/2 bushel of clams , some bunker and squid.headed straight out to Flyns Knoll area, anchored and trying  for the striped ones by a little after 8,all we got were a couple bluefish and a nice pick of skates and a sea robin to boot.hung here till around noon, broke anchor and set to drift for the flatties.picked up one short on the first drift, and then we were in a massive garbage slick that couldn't be avoided,so headed back bay and set to drift off Keansburg, was able to stay in a long drift with the incoming tide and picked a few shorts, gradually worked back to the triangle area where I was able to get a 21 incher on a sea robin strip.then worked the train bridge area with a few drifts and picked a few shorts.most of the shorts were in that just over 17 inch range.headed in around 5,nice day on the water.just got done gassing up and giving the boat a quick wash down, have some bait left over, picking Hon up in the morning early, going to try a 1/2 day trip for the striped ones and some fluke if no go on the stripes.   Kez

Good deal KEZ.  You worked it and put together a bite.  That garbage was out on the Knoll on Saturday too.  Nasty stuff... somebody is dumping and that's just wrong!!  Where's the enforcement?  Oh, that's right those resources have the tape measure out since the start of fluke season >:(
