Decided to do a late afternoon excursion with cloud cover and slight drizzle. Sounds like a recipe for a good day. Well... wasn't meant to be. Prepared for stripes if the bunker were around but targeting flatties. Skunk and I left the marina at 4:00 and headed to the coast gaurd area where we had action a week ago. Water was smooth as silk. The only dimpling we saw on the water was from a few scattered rain drops. Nothing to report regarding bunker or bird action. We were planning on staying close for a few drifts on fluke anyway. As it turns out, there were a handful of shorts by officer row. None of size to get excited about. Moved to deeper water around the tip with the same result. Another try at the corner in Ambrose. Size improved but not enough for a NJ let alone to be compliant with NY. Finished in front of the Ammo pier with one more short.
Back at the dock at 9:00. Overall, not the worst day we've had. Got to take the bad
with the good. That's fishin.
