CBBT a unique place to fish
« on: June 06, 2009, 11:56:50 AM »
Hi All,

Well we made it back and all I have to say it was a very interesting trip.  The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel pier was very interesting to say the least.  First there is no license required. Second all it costs to get on is the toll out there which is $12.00 for the car load.  They also sell bait at a reasonable price plus the restaurant was good for both fast food and sit down meals.

The pier is good size and is out 3,5 miles from land and runs  parallel to the main channel leading out of Norfolk.  Needless to say there was an endless of ship and boat traffic to watch all day.

We wound up fishing from late morning till mid afternoon a total of about 7 hours.  The only thing that was being caught were Croakers.  All were small and all throw backs. We managed to catch I would say about 20 or so.  But at least my Uncle had a blast as it is one thing he has been wanting to do for 20 years.  I am glad I had the opportunity to get him out there.

We did see one Cobia caught towards the end of the pier pretty cool.

Here are a few pictures of the size of the fish caught and some of the bnoat traffic.  I am glad I brought the camera along with the telephoto lenses as the boats were pretty cool.

Happy Catching

Paul

Yeah Nick they said that there were fluke around but for us it was only croakers.  No matter what type of bait we went to, minnows, shrimp, squid in combos, blood worms, even gulp.  We had fun though and that is what counts.
