Fishguts 7/1 seabass limits
« on: July 01, 2009, 07:28:57 PM »
Today I had charter regular Ed McGinnis out for an awesome day of inshore seabassing. The plan was to hit them hard before the bad weather came in. I decided to run it as a crew trip so I could enjoy some of this drop and reel fishing for myself ;D. I looked for some of the 14" porgies that we have been throwing back for the last few weeks and of course found none now that the season is open. Once again the seabass fishing was on fire. We had our 2 man limit by 11:30, just in time to ride through a nice down pour on our way back to the inlet. At the cleaning table we both could not believe the amount of 15plus inch fish. It was some real nice quality.I only had to net a dozen of Ed's fish today ;D. A  great day to spend with a great person and one very good fisherman. Catch em all and good luck

Nice Catch.  How deep?  How long do the sea bass stick around down there?

There has been plenty of fish  in 40 to 90 feet. Some spots have much better quality but the over all numbers on  most good bottom has been amazing. We  treat inshore summer time seabass/blackfish as  our specialty and get good to very good numbers right through Aug. It takes a bit more work some years in mid and late July on the seabass but when they finish the spawn it can be some of the best catches of the year.
