Window Spottage
« on: July 07, 2009, 02:41:01 PM »
Does any one have a solution to removing the spots off the glass windows on the boats? was thinking there is some kinda chemical out there but i havent seen it so far....no matter how many times i scrub my boat down i still have leftover spotting on my windows and it just wont go away....it has been there for awhile and wont go away......any suggestions besides replacing the glass?

Is it glass or plastic windows? If glass, perhaps a dishwashing detergent that advertises no spots would work.  5hrug

I have a cleaner that one of my fishing buddies says removed the film from his headlight lense and cleared up the milkyness of the lense. If you want, we can meet sometime and you can try it.

Try some CLR or any of the other brands!  It is probably mineral deposits and they won't go away just by scrubbing.  You can apply it liberally and let it sit on their.  It shouldn't harm anything else on the boat either.  I have cleaned shower heads, coffee machines, etc...with it and have not had any problems.  After you get rid of the spots, you should be able to clean them with regular window cleaner.

Good luck!

Carl,, Are they glass or plexi?  I think yours are glass.  A fine steel wool and windex will remove the spots from glass.

Use finesse it by 3m. You have to do both sides of the glass. Use a buffer with low rpms 1300-1500 put product on glass and wheel. That is the best product out there for that. Westmarine sells it.
