The Monarch butterfly got its name for its large colorfully majestic presence in the landscape. Come learn about this long distance traveler at the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife's WILD About Monarch Butterflies Family Workshop being held on July 22 from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center.
In this 3-hour hands-on session, participants will learn to identify monarch butterflies in the field, explore its life-cycle and habitat requirements, observe and collect one of New Jersey's native butterfly species, and learn to raise and care for caterpillars.
There is limited space available for this workshop and registration is required. The workshop is open to ages 10 years old and up. Bring a snack. Rain cancels the program.
