Capt.Ron/Fishermen/Same old song and dance!!
« on: July 24, 2009, 05:31:20 PM »
Reports for the past week could be summed up in one word "CRAP"!!
We have fished all channels, humps and bumps, the beach, all parts of the bay, battled wind against the tide, a new moon that brought tides so high it tore off my rub rail!! Too much and not enough current, to come up with a handfull of keepers and some shorts each day.
Can't remember in 32 years having to work so hard for so little, yet we have been allocated more poundage for next season. Does this mean the size is going to go down? Will our season be extended past Labor day? Hell, they could give us 5 million pounds what good is it if things stay status quo?
Someone posted Truth in reporting, it doesn't get any more truthfull than this.
25 to 30 keepers is a great day today, how about the 100 fish that go back that are 16 to 17 3/4 inches, if they were in the cooler, THAT would be a true Banner day!!!
I would never take away hope, and I hope each day we sail that I can post great catches with happy customers in pics with thier catch. We give it 110 percent everyday, regardless of what comes our way.......Just another rant from Capt. Ron    Thanks for reading!!!

Capt
Never a doubt in your truth in reporting.

My philosophy is I pay for the Boat ride and the day on the water if I catch fish that's a benefit.

Tuff season all around. Good thing the striper fishing was good in the spring.

As always, your report is nothing but the truth Capt Ron. Keep the reports coming. Good or bad, they all help.

Hopefully the fluke fishing will break wide open in August. It's a shame we only have four days of fluke fishing in September. :P

I guess that is fishing.  I know that fares "expect" to catch keepers, but you can't control that!  I would be happy with being out fishing, action is always an added bonus and keepers just make the trip better.  Reports can't always be what everyone wants to hear.  Good or bad, it is a report and they should always be honest, like yours always are!

Cap Ron, all those 17 inch fish that u hope to be there for us next year will never make it past the draggers. Cynical I know but I just can't help it thats what happens mid way through a really tough fluke season.  I wouldn't even want to guess how many 16 and 17" fish I sent back to the deep so far it makes my really pissed. Here I go off on my own rant I just don't know.  What will it be next year 20" or maybe 24, hey why not 30"   nts  nts  nts
