Been fishing there for a couple of weeks now with initially slow fishing, but has over the past week been really good. Been fishing NJ waters, both red and green side with good results......real quality fishing. Just keep an eye out for all the container ships and liners cruising in and out. Fish the edges of the channels and watch for an occasional monster wake. As far as bait, LARGE strip baits (squid, sea robbin, bunker and so on) is the key as well as braided line (a must) and a quarry of 6-14 oz of sinkers are essential. Good Luck!!

Here are several old posts on this subject. Keep in mind, if you are on the NY side of the bay (which a lot of the Ambrose Channel is) you must abide by NY regs. Both size and bag limit wise. What you legally catch in NJ can not be brought into NY waters unless it satisfies their regs.
