Kenneth Applegate Jr., 28, was arrested in connection with a report of $3,575 worth of equipment allegedly stolen July 31 from a boat docked at West 82nd Street.
An 82nd Street resident alerted police on Wednesday that a man he hired to work at his home offered to sell him gear that matched the description of the missing items, which included coolers, tools, boat equipment and fishing gear.
Except for a few fishing poles, all the stolen equipment was returned to the boat owner, police said.
Applegate is lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $15,000 bail, authorities said.
