Peanut Bunker on the move ?
« on: August 10, 2009, 01:42:03 PM »
This weekend while out on the beach in Lavallette we found large schools of peanut bunker all going south.... I also talked with a friend of mine up in Monmouth beach who saw the same thing..... The peanut bunker a very small in size and should still be in the back bay....

I have never seen or heard of this so early in the season.... This move takes place in the late fall but not now.....

any ideas to why?????

Thanks
Dave
The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

How small is small?  Around 1 or 2 inches?  With the lack of many peanuts in the back bays, I am wondering if these fish are migrating from their spawning grounds into the back bays?  My other guess is, with all the rain, there is a lack of food in the bays for them to feed on so they have moved out front.

Just a guess though.  I haven't ever seen this that I can remember.

maybe with the cool summer the water temp is that of what it should be in the fall? idk, just a guess.
