Headed out to the sand today for some evening casts in the surf. A decent amount of other buggies were out pegging the waves for a Monday. The Missus and I got set up around 8 near A-15. It was a perfect night to spend on the beach. Nice air and water temps, no bugs after a little spritz, calm waves, and my lady.
Wind was coming out of the SSW with clear skies. I took advantage of the calm waves and walked a pole out pretty damn far and threw some nice bunker chunks out to entice some big'uns. Got a little dogfish/sand shark (Can't tell the difference) after a few minutes. Re-baited and sent another fat set of chunks WAY out there. 8:30 rolled around and BANG! I hooked into something with some fight to her. Same fish.....Different size. Didn't have a ruler handy, but I did have the camera! It was getting quite dark by then, so I was leery about going too far out to cast. A little more time passed and I set the hook on a smooth skate and had Wifey pull the fat little bastard in. Sent another bait out and must have fed a few hungry crabs.
All in all another great night on IBSP.
There was also a good amount of glowing things in the wash and rolling up on the sand. Bio-luminescence of some sort, I guess?
