Raritan Bay Fluking 8/13
« on: August 13, 2009, 08:51:26 PM »
was undecided if going this morning, got up this morning with a light rain, usually have trailer hooked up and ready to go the night before, hooked up and headed down with Dave and John, didn't look good at all on the ride down,if anything pickup some bait and be ready for an early start tomorrow.went to Fred's for bait and hit the ramp to take a look, decided to go.fished back bay all day due to the threatening skies and blowing pretty good early, stayed mostly in the triangle area.a decent drift all day with the incoming tide and the NE wind, suprisingly a fairly fast drift and able to hold with 4 ozs.had a steady slow pick all day but unable to put any in the box, quite a few over 17 inches.headed in around 2:30 as the rain started.been having some issues with high temperature alarm going off when running full throttle over 5000 Rpms on the way in.got home and pulled tstats and found one crudded up and dirty, was going to clean but decided to pick up new ones in the morning,so going to drop boat in tomorrow, run up and down with out tstats to flush, come out install new tstats and back in and go fishing, don't want to do it in the water to easy to drop something, been that route before.  nosmly     Kez

Good try.  I was hoping to hear some better news about the back.  I haven't been out for 3 weeks up here, but I'm heading out this weekend.  I'll let you know if I find any.  Good luck with the repairs.

remember Kez if it's a 2stroke they like to seize up if you run them hard when cold.

no tstats= no warmup

go easy if you must run w no stats or better yet flush on hose full blast at idle with muffs for like 5min.
