Had Steve Magyari, NJ Bob, Tom Breeland, and Steve's cousin John Bannister aboard for a FTYP trip.
Ran all the way up north, fished the rocky stuff with bucktails all day. Wacky drift when we first got there, I had to hit the motor several times just to keep the lines from going straight up to the bow.
Got into short spurty bites here and there, picking one or two a drift, then re-setting, and doing the same thing again. Mixed in were mixed size seabass. For the most part we had a slow pick all day long but we pieced together a respectable catch of quality fish by day's end. John, Steve, Bob, and Tom gutted it out all day while I barely got to fish getting the jigs out of the rocks, netting/unhooking fish, and keeping the boat where it needed to be.
Steve's cousin John, who fishes only a handful of times per year, bucked up his limit and had an 8# fish and a 7# 1 oz. fish to his credit today (which also happened to be his birthday) -- nice job John!! Happy Birthday!
For the day, we boated ~40 fluke, finishing just a few fish shy of a 4 man limit with 21 keepers to 8#, and 12 nice chunky seabass to 2#. Great company, lots of ball busting today - always great having these guys aboard!!!
**I will post the pics from today on my site Sunday night - again at my dad's for the weekend and cannot upload pics here...
