On the 18th I had a 3man group lead by Blackfish Doug looking to do some fluke and blackfishing. A stop in the bay on the way out in the morning produced the usual insane fluke bite that has been going on the last 2 weeks. 3 drifts and 30 fish with one 19" keeper we headed out the inlet. In the ocean we found some nice concentrations of keeper fluke to 23" tight to structure.By 11:00am the guys had 8 in the box and a hard south wind and building seas. We tried a move to the shallower water tight to the beach but it only produced shorts and skates. We then headed back out in the building slop to try blackfishing. We had a very good bite but only with small 13inch fish. Finally the wind was to much and we called it a short day.
Today the 19th it was the guys from The Dock Outfitters for more bay fluke and ocean blackfish. The guys worked the ultra lights and racked up some big numbers of shorts along with 3 nice keeper fluke to 19" and a few blues in the bay. The ocean blackfishing was also very good with a lot of nice quality fish. The guys boxed their limit to 17" in no time and played catch and release with with another 35 fish from 1 to 3lbs before heading for home. Another great day with some good people.
