Had Bill Tevlin, Pete Pellack, Ray Linfante and his brother in law Anthony aboard for a FTYP trip today.
Fished some snags NE of our inlet, got into some action on our second drift after a fishless first drift. A nice light SSW breeze pushed us along nice at .7-.9 kts, and we started connecting with mixed size fluke and seabass through the entire morning. We pretty much worked one piece for the first 3 hours, and put 7 keepers in the box from it as well as a few nice seabass to over 3#.
Once that dried up, we made a shift a little more to the north to fish a high spot and got a good pick going again, with bucktails now producing several nice fish in the 3-5# range plus plenty of shorts and other 18-20" keepers for another couple of hours.
By 2PM, the S wind was blowing a bit more, and with the S current moving us along already, we were drifting at over 2 kts even with the drift sock in the water. 10-12 oz. wasn't even skipping bottom for more than 2-3 seconds.. So, we finished up the day in the river for the last hour where we had a slow pick of fluke with 1 more keeper for Bill on a gulp/jighead combo.
Overall we had another productive day fishing locally. We boated ~40 fluke, with 15 going in the box, 2 cocktail blues, as well as 5 nice seabass, 2 of which were over 3# on the digital. 6 fluke were between 3-5#, the rest were in the 18-20" bracket. Pete put the biggest fluke in the boat @ 5 lbs. 2 oz, and had 4 keepers, as did Bill. Great time was had by all - great having Bill and Ray back on the boat as well as Pete and Anthony!
