OUCH- I think he's gonna need a bigger shovel.

there was 10ft of water there 3yrs ago; now it's all sand (as he found out.)

everything's a tradeoff- upgrade the Garmin, or buy Yamaha stock

nts That happened to my father in law a few years ago but at least his excuse was his only motor wouldn't start, he wasn't half the distance up on the beach and it cost 750.00 from sea tow.IT looks like the Capt. dropped the ball on this one. Great Pics

We saw him up there as we went by Saturday morning when the tide was low.. he was waaay up the beach.. Looking at where he was sitting, it seems he may have tried to cut the corner around the hook and missed?  Damn shame.. hope no one was hurt..  nosmly

pride will hurt, but if he didn't run aground, there shouldn't be any sand in the engines, so except for some bottom paint scratches, all should be OK.

My question is - how and why is the bow facing the surf and the engines inland? How the hell does that happen?  If he ran aground, the bow should be into shore, no?

the only think i can think of is the force of the surf plowing into the stern and pushing it towards the bow.

Maybe he was running ALONG the beach at night on a East wind, which would really bring the surf and water line higher up the beach(until he ran out of water and hit real estate)
Or he just had tooooo many beers.

Perhaps drifting along the beach, not paying attention. Went to start, wouldn't, didn't have the where-abouts (or time) to sink the anchor. Tide went out from under him after he got washed up. 5hrug

Weren't there two incidents last year where boats were beached there. I seem to remember someone saying the chartplotter shows water where there is no longer water.

At the tip of the hook, there's a little bit of "Y" indentation. While out there fishing last year,in the spring,a boat starts heading in there full throttle, both engines. At this point,I'am figuring he's hit something and has a big hole in the bottom.trying to salvage the motors.Came clear up on the beach, totally out of the water.Ran over and asked if everybody was alright, etc..Asked what happened and he said he didn't have any sun glasses and thought he was at the tip.Sea tow came in less than 20 mins. and got him off, with a lot of pulling from a bunch of diiferent angles. 5hrug
