ASMFC Summer Flounder, Scup and Black Sea Bass Board to Meet in September to Discuss Recreational Overages

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Interstate Fisheries Management Program Policy Board directed the Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Management Board (Board) to consider potential overages for all three species and take action prior to September 1. This directive was taken in response information presented to the Policy Board regarding available black sea bass preliminary recreational harvest estimates and projections indicating that harvest will likely result in significant quota overages. Board action could include emergency measures to prevent further overages in recreational fisheries for summer flounder, scup, and black sea bass. A press release will be issued following finalization of meeting arrangements.

For more information, please contact Robert Beal, ISFMP Director, at (202)289-6400 or <rbeal@asmfc.org>.

I think the next step for the rec fisherman is to have a law suit filed to have the aholes who are making these decisions show where they are getting their information. Not a simple a$$...the recs are overfishing...show me the information you have gathered to come to this conclusion! I guarantee it will come down to a SWAG, Scientic Wild A$$ Guess.

It is getting to the point where the camel is about to have his back broken.  nosmly

What did the ASMFC and the NMFS expect 5hrug?  With horrible fluke Regs and fishing being spotty at best most of the season, of course the sea bass were targeted more.  However, I want to see their numbers and like your teacher always said, "Show the work too" or the answer isn't right even if it is right.

No need to worry about a Saltwater Registry or License...there won't be any fish in season to fish for by 2010 and 2011 >:(!  Of course, bet your butt that the commercial seasons won't be affected.  I don't begrudge or have anything against the guys trying to make a living off of the ocean, but don't tell me I can't recreationally fish and then give them millions or billions of pounds of fish to harvest...AND as much as they are trying to make a living, there are plenty of people trying to stay alive off of the recreational fisheries that should not be limited or excluded either.

This is just unreal anymore nts nts nts rgmn rgmn rgmn!
