Had to work most of the day today but had a crew for an afternoon shot at fluke from 3 till around 7PM. Bite for us was very slow on the fluke front.
I decided to do a "what the hell" move, put swim shads on the outfits, and fished around some structure on the incoming water targeting our first stripers of the "fall" season.
First piece produced nothing. Second piece was game on. We had excellent action -- Every drift produced multiple bites and 1 or 2 fish for the remainder of the trip. Most fish were 22-25", had a couple smaller and the biggest was 26" on a white 2 oz. storm shad. These fish were maniacs pulling drag, going berserk in the moving water. Some of the friskiest bass I've seen in a while.
Only got 1 good pic with the camera phone, was too busy to photograph every fish put in the boat - that shot is below.
Great short notice trip, and hopefully the fall bass run will be gaining some steam in the coming weeks as the water cools off
