New registry and saltwater license?

Read an article in local community newspaper that the Saltwater Anglers of Bergen county will have a speaker from NJ Marine Fisheries on Registry and who needs to be registered and saltwater licensing at their Sept 15th meeting.
Is this going to be the future of saltwater fishing?, and if so what will what is it going to cost the average Joe who loves the sport?

As was said by Bob 2010 is free, 2011 is up in the air.

The JCAA is polling the member clubs prior to sending a position paper to the state,

Three options are

1. Do nothing, then the $25-35 fee will go to the Federal Gov.

2. A NJ Saltwater fishing Lic, which would be $15-25

3. A State Registry with a charge of $2 to $4 to cover admin costs only. (fulfills registry requirements)

My club voted for option #3tate Reg with a nominal fee. JCAA meeting will be on the 29th. Let you know how the vote goes.

I am guessing the JCAA will go for the $15-25 fee as some feel the governent will be obligated to put the $$$ back into the fishing coffers. I, for one, do not believe for one minute that the government will do that. Like everything else in the fine state of ours, if they can find a way to get their grubby hands on our $$$, they will do it. Don't forget it was not too long ago that Whitman raided the pension fund.

If, in fact, the money MUST and DOES go back into the RECREATION fishery, I will be first in line to pay the $15-25.

I would also like to see the $15-25 dollar Salt Water Lic fe if it goes back into the fishery........but knowing this state as I do most likely it will be dumped into the general coffers and we will never see it.

So, unless legislation exhists to make it a law that these monies go into the fishery, I woul rather see the minimal registration fee of $2-4

Maybe it's just me but you are telling me we have to pay for a license and then be subjected to size limits, slot limits, closed fisherys, coast guard and ranger bob boardings and on and on .
