Left Highlands at 5 pm for a shot at hopefully some striped ones with worms and eels. Started the drift at 6 pm and marked fish right away....within 4 minutes had a fish on the eel but popped it off trying to hand the rod over to my customer. Now we are flying at almost 3 knots in the 20knt south wind(the weatherman's version of south west 5-10)and an incoming tide and my sounder is marking so much fish ,and i cant believe we aren't beating the hell out of them. the rest of the night was more of the same...lost 2 bass runoffs, caught some short sea bass and had a couple of the biggest porgies i have ever seen in my life...one was damn near keeper fluke size. Back at dock by 10:30 scratching my head.
F.Y.I the N.J. side of the bay was void of life, in case anyone was wondering where i was fishing.
