Fall Location Advice
« on: September 21, 2009, 06:37:39 PM »
Please weigh-in:

if you had to choose between running out of Barnegat Inlet or Raritan Bay between October 1 and early December - which would you chose and why?

I want to place the boat where I will have the greatest chance of success and most convenient access to optimal grounds.

Thanks in advance to any who take the time to reply.

I'm not so familiar with the BI but i know that the hook area is great for stripers... Shrewsbury rocks and Red Chirch arent far away either, that would be my choice.

Both are good locations. Early run in the Sandy Hook aarea may be better as resident fish wake up and feed more daily. As the migration south picks up especially in late November the Barnegat area off Island Beach State Park can be great. Night time fishing is going on right now in both places with eels. Choose and go fishing  TT^

Each place has its benefits, not having fishing the Barnaget Light area my info is one sided....

Raritan Bay is a good location because you have so many differant areas, the Bay itself, the Rivers, close to Rocks, Sandy Hook Rips are fantastic, and you have the shore along Breezy Point, Coney Island and Rockaway.......a lot of the fish coming in follow down along Long Island.

But on the other had the real cows have been taking the off shore route the pst 3-4 years and hitting the shouthern locations bypassing our area up here. Don't get me wrong we have quality fishing.
