All over report
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:24:23 AM »
Tried the bay and canal at night missed one weakie, no bass around didnt see much bait but it was low tide. few hours sleep up at 5 am to surf fish deal to about a mile south, no bass or blues but an outrageous about of fluke are in 3-5 feet of water on sand eels, they keep hitting my teaser, so i eventually switched to a 7' rod and 1/2 bucktail with a hacked up sea robin with a gulp sand eel teaser above, and in two hours had a career high hook for fluke up to 19" Its funny how they work that season  ;D  Alot were spitting up intact sand eels, add that to the bucktail and they were all over it.

back to the canal later in the day with some greenies and picked up a few tog but boy do I suck with hook up ratio compared to the other guys.  Its a real skill hooking on bites

Nice job!  Some good fishing there.  It is funny how when the fluking gets good in the surf, the season is already closed 5hrug.

Story of my life why should that be any different.  Going out in the AM on Friday to try and see if there are any hold over blues around after the blitz.

Been fishing the canal for blackfish, hook choice is very important especially if you only fish occasionally. Been using the 1/0 Gami and a 1/4 green crab with the legs trimmed off. Check the hook regularly cause it will get dull after catching many fish plus all those rocks. Also move around, not all the spots are the same. Hope this helps  TT^

Another sad, good Fluke story.  nosmly Tog in the canal, keep at it, you will hook more of those tricky bastards as you go. Thjanks for the intel.  t^   <'((((><
