Tall Ship visits Perth Amboy
« on: October 07, 2009, 01:49:49 PM »
The Peacemaker, a 150 foot long and 108 foot tall,Brazilian built Tall ship is berthed at Perth Amboy's Municipal Marina until Sunday.
Visitors can take tours of the vessel.
The ship was built by an Italian family and launched in 1989 by Frank Walker, a Brazilian industrialist who planned to use the ship for charter in the Caribbean.
Sold in 2000 to a few members of the Twelve Tribes, a confederation of religious communities.
It took nine years to restore. The ship has visited 27 cities since the Spring.
The tall ship will remain in the city marina until Sunday, when she'll head south to the Chesapeake Bay.
The ship is captained by Lee Phillips, and is manned by a 15 member crew, which is made up of several families, share their resources and many have been together for 40 years. Youngest member is 11 years old and the oldest is 50 something.

Tours are available today, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here's some pics I took this Morning. Just so happened I had to be there for a work related matter. Tried fishing the pier for an hour or two. No fish, just jellyfish, not even bait fish.
