IBSP 11 4 09 Report and conditions
« on: November 04, 2009, 06:58:48 PM »
The beach is starting to get a little better.  Some structure is starting to form again and there's more obvious cuts in the bar.
There is a bit more of a drop off to the water and the driving ruts aren't as deep.  Sand is still soft and the water is still high at high tide so be careful.

Made a short trip this afternoon near low tide.  Water is cleaning up quick.  Minimal bird action again and it's all past the bar.  Wind was west then south then east then south, etc.
First hour I watched the guy 100yds to my south nail short bass on metals while my clams went untouched.  Once the tide switched from outgoing to incoming, he watched me and another guy nail shorts while his metals went untouched.
Had 3 around 25in on three consecutive casts within 45 minutes.
Nice quick, productive afternoon trip.    TT^

Nice job Lt!  Isn't it funny how one minute something catches and then it all changes...I think that is why we all still fish ;D.

My theory is....as the tide flushed all the sandeels out thru the cut in the bar they were hanging there sucking up sandeels and anything looked like one....once it slacked and started to move in, they switched it up and scavenged for clams.   5hrug

I also noticed every hookup in the last two weeks on clam has been the top hook of the Hi-Lo.  And when the water was dirty, they would tap-tap-tap-grab.  When the water was cleaner they hit it sudden and hard.   And most hits have been within 2-5 minutes of the bait hitting the water.
